Introduction

Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) is a process designed to assemble a shared picture of the health, care and related needs of the people of Northumberland.  Responsibility for JSNA is shared between the Director of Public Health and the Executive Director of wellbeing.

We published a comprehensive baseline analysis of the information available to us about needs in Northumberland in 2009.  Our baseline JSNA is available for download.  The latest (February 2012) Executive Summary summarises the ongoing JSNA work in Northumberland, highlights key messages and sets out some of the implications for future commissioning and planning.

We are trying out a more accessible format for the JSNA which will make information easier to find and to update.  The topic areas set out below have links to headline analysis and background documentation which will change as it is developed.  Your views on format and content will help us to make this information more useful and should be sent to Pamela.Forster@northumberland.gcsx.gov.uk.

Geographical, social and environmental context

The Northumberland Knowledge website presents a wealth of information and intelligence about the resident population, the places where they live and the key social and economic themes that they form. The aim is to bring together all the latest, available data and research in a convenient and accessible way to inform decision making, policy forming and service delivery in Northumberland.

The THEMES section of the Northumberland Knowledge website allows you to access research and statistics by common themes.

The PLACES section provides statistical profiles for different sub-county geographies including localities, wards, and parishes.

The PEOPLE section includes information on demographics, Census results, key facts, resident insight and customer profiles.

Children and Families

There are a new set of outcomes and priorities though the groups of children and young people whose needs they reflect remain constant. This update of the detailed JSNA presents the current needs analysis for key groups to inform the work of the Children’s Commissioning sub group that supports the Health and Well Being Board. See updated detailed DRAFT JSNA 2012 here.
